Times have changed. Society no longer accepts drunk driving. Most drivers now use their seat belts. Motorists’ attitude toward stop signs and stop signals, on the other hand, remains largely the same: They’re a necessary annoyance. But hold on a second. Why exactly are stop signs and signals annoying? Well, it’s probably because they slow you down. But hold on another second. Maybe they really don’t. Say you just flat-out run the first red light on your next delivery. Wouldn’t that throw off your timing for catching the next green light? Okay, so you run the next light too. And then the next. And the next. All four of those serious driving offenses saved you what? Five minutes? There comes a time when you have to ask yourself, “Just how does my five minutes equal the lifetime of someone I kill by running a stop light?”
